FOOD PARTY Embarks on Development of AI-Based Culinary Tourism Recommendation Model Using Public Data
Personalized Culinary Experiences for Foreign Tourists Enhanced by Public Tourism Data and AI
Food Party, a Korean culinary experience platform, has launched a collaborative project with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) to develop an AI-powered recommendation model for culinary tourism based on open public tourism data. The project has been selected as part of the "Tourism Business Innovation Voucher Program" organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and KTO, and is recognized as a leading case of digital transformation and technology innovation among tourism startups in Korea.
Food Party has previously focused on curating local culinary experiences for foreign visitors by combining hands-on food programs with Airbnb hosting. Through this collaboration, the company has secured an initial prototype of its AI recommendation service, which leverages KTO’s public tourism data APIs—including restaurants, local attractions, seasonal events, and transportation—to suggest personalized culinary routes and experiences tailored to travelers' preferences and interests.
A key differentiator of this project lies in its technological foundation. Food Party has already filed a patent for its personalized culinary experience recommendation system, which integrates public data and user inputs into a proprietary AI algorithm. The system analyzes a combination of ingredients, menu items, restaurant characteristics, and regional data, delivering highly personalized culinary journey suggestions based on user preferences, travel objectives, seasonality, and geolocation.
In addition to the patent, the company has also filed for trademark protection of the “Food Party” brand, and completed copyright registration for its model architecture, data classification system, user interface, and digital content assets, establishing a robust IP strategy to protect both its technology and brand identity.

Sung Tae Kim, CEO of Food Party and a recognized Airbnb Global Host Community Leader, stated,
“This project goes beyond simple API integration. Our goal is to build an AI model that understands the travel purposes, food preferences, location, and timing of each user, then delivers an optimized culinary journey. Traditional Korean food, K-culture-inspired desserts, and local experience content will be at the heart of our offering.”
The project is set to roll out in phases, aiming for a pilot launch in the second half of 2025, including:
Development of a public data-based culinary experience classification system
Design and training of the AI recommendation algorithm
Creation of an intelligent user interface (UI)
Strategic integration with global travel platforms
Looking ahead, Food Party plans to expand its AI-powered content and services in collaboration with global OTAs (Online Travel Agencies) and tourism platforms, accelerating the global expansion of “K-Culinary Tourism” through digital transformation.
